Audet's Blue Spruce Farm - Bridport, Vermont
100 kW Northern Power Systems Wind Turbine
Audet's Blue Spruce Farm is a three generation family farm established in 1958 by Norman and Mary-Rose Audet. Initially a small 35-head dairy farm, it has grown to over 1,000 cows. The farm produces over 3.6 million gallons of milk per year and also supplies milk to Cabot Cheese.
The 100 kW wind turbine generates approximately 165,000 kWh of electricity each year, enough to power nearly 25 Vermont households.
The turbine measures a height of 160 feet and has a rotor diameter of 78 feet.
Blue Spruce Farm won the Elanco award for Outstanding Dairy Farm Sustainability, a national award presented by the Innovation Center for US Dairy, partially as a result of their committment to renewable energy.
